Why Book the Morning Departure?

The morning departure is ideal for travellers who want to experience the Daymaniyat Islands without using the whole day. It leaves the afternoon free for other activities in Muscat and is a practical option for couples, families, solo travellers and small groups.

During the trip, the captain and crew choose the most suitable locations based on the day’s marine conditions. This flexible approach helps provide a safer and more enjoyable experience rather than following a fixed route when conditions are unsuitable.

Typical Morning Schedule

Arrive at Seeb Marina before departure to meet the team, complete check-in and prepare your equipment. Guests receive a safety briefing and guidance on using the snorkelling gear.

Board the shared boat and begin the journey towards the Daymaniyat Islands. The crossing generally takes approximately 25–30 minutes, depending on marine conditions.

Begin the first snorkelling session at a site selected by the captain. Guests can explore the water at their own comfort level, with crew assistance available when required.

Continue to another suitable location with different reef scenery and marine conditions. The precise site may change based on visibility, currents and safety.

Around 10:30 AM :
Flexible Final Activity

When conditions and available time allow, the boat may visit a third snorkelling location.

Between November and April, this part of the itinerary may instead include a seasonal island or beach stop, subject to access rules and sea conditions.

Around 11:20 AM :
Refreshment Break

Relax on board, enjoy the provided refreshments and prepare for the return journey. The timing of this break may be adjusted around the day’s activities.

Around 11:55 AM :
Return Journey

Depart the Daymaniyat Islands and travel back towards Seeb Marina.

Approximately 12:30 PM :
Arrival at Seeb Marina

The tour concludes at the marina. Return time may vary slightly because of sea conditions, marina traffic, or operational requirements.

Wildlife Encounters Around the Reserve

The protected waters surrounding the Daymaniyat Islands support coral habitats and a wide variety of marine life. What guests see varies by location and can change with visibility, currents, water conditions, and the natural movement of wildlife.

Sea Turtles

Sea turtles are among the animals guests hope to encounter during a Daymaniyat Islands snorkelling trip. They may be seen swimming near the reef or resting below the surface, but every encounter is natural and sightings cannot be guaranteed. Learn more in our guide to snorkelling with turtles in Oman

Coral Reefs and Reef Fish

The snorkelling sites may include coral formations inhabited by small and colourful reef fish. Different locations can offer different underwater scenery, which is one reason the crew selects sites according to the conditions on the day.

Guests must avoid standing on, kicking, or touching the coral because it is fragile and can be easily damaged.

Rays and Other Marine Life

Depending on the location and conditions, guests may also encounter rays and other marine species around the reserve. Larger or less common animals may occasionally be seen, but the tour should not be booked with the expectation of seeing one particular species.

Whale Shark Sightings

Whale sharks may occasionally pass through the waters around the Daymaniyat Islands. These encounters are unpredictable, and Daymaniyat Tours does not guarantee whale shark sightings on the morning snorkelling tour.

Responsible Wildlife Viewing

  • Do not touch, feed or chase marine animals.
  • Keep a comfortable distance from turtles and other wildlife.
  • Avoid standing on coral or disturbing the seabed.
  • Follow the crew’s instructions at each location.
  • Take photographs without obstructing or surrounding an animal.

The aim is to enjoy the marine environment while leaving it undisturbed for future visitors.

How Island Access Changes by Season

The Daymaniyat Islands morning snorkelling tour can operate during different times of the year, subject to weather, sea conditions and reserve instructions. However, the type of experience changes according to the island-access season.

1 November to 30 April — Seasonal Beach Access

During the cooler season, an island or beach stop may be included when reserve rules and marine conditions allow. The stop generally lasts around 30–60 minutes and gives guests time to relax before continuing or completing the trip.

A beach stop is not guaranteed because access depends on waves, wind, tides, reserve instructions and the captain’s safety assessment.

1 May to 31 October — Boat-Based Snorkelling

Island landing and beach stops are not permitted during this period. Guests snorkel and swim directly from the boat at suitable locations selected by the crew.

The tour still visits the Daymaniyat Islands marine reserve, but the experience remains entirely boat-based.

What This Means When Booking

Guests travelling between May and October should book the tour for the boat journey, snorkelling and marine experience rather than expecting to walk on the islands.

Guests travelling between November and April may have the opportunity to visit a beach, but the main purpose of the tour remains snorkelling around the Daymaniyat Islands.

Is the Morning Snorkelling Tour Suitable for Beginners?

Yes. The morning tour is suitable for first-time snorkellers as well as guests with previous experience. Before entering the water, the crew explains how to use the mask, snorkel and fins and provides basic safety guidance.

Guests can begin slowly and remain close to the boat while becoming comfortable. A life jacket is available and should be worn whenever instructed by the crew.

For First-Time Snorkellers

  • Listen carefully to the safety briefing before entering the water.
  • Ask the crew for help adjusting your mask, snorkel or fins.
  • Enter the water only when you feel ready.
  • Stay within the area indicated by the crew.
  • Return to the boat whenever you feel tired or uncomfortable.

Can Non-Swimmers Join the Tour?

Non-swimmers are welcome to join the boat trip. Entering the water is optional, so guests who prefer not to snorkel may remain on board and enjoy the boat journey and surrounding scenery.

A non-swimmer who chooses to enter the water must wear a life jacket, follow the crew’s instructions and stay within the designated area. Participation may be limited when sea conditions are unsuitable or when the crew believes entering the water would not be safe.

Important Safety Note

A life jacket provides flotation support but does not replace swimming ability or personal supervision. Guests should tell the crew before departure if they cannot swim, feel nervous in the water or require additional assistance.

Is the Morning Snorkelling Tour Suitable for Children?

Yes. Families with children are welcome on the morning tour, and entering the water is optional. Children who are comfortable in the sea may snorkel under the supervision of their parent or responsible adult, while younger children may remain on the boat.

The booking organiser should include every child and infant in the guest count, including children travelling free, because all passengers must be included for boat capacity and safety planning.

Family Safety Guidelines

  • A parent or responsible adult must supervise children throughout the trip.
  • Children should wear a suitable life jacket whenever instructed by the crew.
  • Parents should tell the team if a child cannot swim or feels nervous in the water.
  • Children should enter the water only when conditions are suitable and the crew gives permission.
  • Young children may remain on board when a parent or responsible adult stays with them.
  • Families should bring suitable sun protection, swimming clothes and any personal items their children may need.

Children’s Ages

Children aged 3–12 years are booked at the child rate. Children under 3 years may join free of charge but must still be included in the reservation.

Bringing Babies and Young Children

Babies and young children may join the boat trip, but parents should consider the four-hour duration, sun exposure, boat movement and sea conditions before booking.

Life Jackets for Young Children

Daymaniyat Tours provides child-sized life jackets that are generally suitable for children around 3 years of age and above, depending on the child’s size and fit.

For children under 3, parents should bring a properly fitted infant or toddler life jacket designed for their child’s weight and body size. This is recommended because a suitable fit cannot always be guaranteed with the life jackets available on the boat.

Please inform the team before booking when travelling with a baby or very young child.

Departing from Seeb Marina

The morning snorkelling tour departs from Seeb Marina in Muscat, Oman. The Daymaniyat Islands can only be reached by boat, so guests should first travel to the marina and meet the Daymaniyat Tours team there.

Seeb Marina Meeting Point

Use the confirmed Daymaniyat Tours meeting point at Seeb Marina for navigation.

The final booking confirmation will include the meeting instructions and contact details needed on the departure day. Please check the location before travelling because other marine tours in Muscat may use different marinas.

Travelling from Muscat

Journey time to Seeb Marina depends on your starting location, traffic and transport arrangements. Allow extra time for the morning journey rather than planning to arrive exactly at departure time.

Transport to and from the marina is not included unless it has been arranged separately with Daymaniyat Tours.

Before Leaving for the Marina

  • Check the meeting-point link in your booking confirmation.
  • Allow additional time for traffic and locating the team.
  • Keep the booking organiser’s phone available for WhatsApp updates.
  • Contact the team as soon as possible if you expect a delay.
  • Do not travel directly towards the islands; all guests must board at the confirmed marina.
